Some of world's priciest parking in Australia

Sydney's CBD is one of the priciest places in the world to park a car, outranking Manhattan, Zurich and almost every city in the Asia Pacific.

The average cost of parking a car in Sydney's CBD is $733 a month, making it the fifth most expensive city in the world, property researcher Colliers International's annual parking rate survey has found.

The only more expensive city in the Asia Pacific for parking is Hong Kong, where the average price is $US748 ($939).

And the price of parking in Sydney will be even higher from this month. The survey was carried out before the NSW government increased its parking space levy by $87 a month on July 1.

The survey found the City of London was the most expensive location to park a car in the world on a monthly basis at a average cost of $US1020 ($1281), followed by London's West End at $US955 ($1199) a month and Amsterdam at $US805 ($1011).

The US' most expensive area was Manhattan in New York, with a median monthly rate of $US550 ($690).

Surprisingly, it is also more expensive to secure a monthly car space in Sydney than it is in Tokyo, where it costs on average $US525 ($659) a month, or Zurich where the average is $US515 ($646).

Parking in Brisbane's CBD is not cheap either.

According to the Colliers survey, Brisbane is the seventh most expensive place in the world to park, at $660 a month.

In Perth's CBD, the median monthly cost of parking is $645, and in Melbourne's CBD it is $425.

Melbourne General Post Office (GPO)

It’s been twenty-one months since the first day I came to Melbourne. However, I’ve never been to Melbourne General Post Office (GPO), which is situated on the corner of Elizabeth Street and Bourke Street in the heart of the Melbourne CBD. The GPO is a landmark building in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia and I have seen the building many times when I’m in the CBD but I’ve never step foot in GPO until today.

According to Wikipedia, the first GPO was declared in 13 April 1837, shortly after the naming of Melbourne. In 2001, the GPO ceased to function as an office of Australia Post and in the same year, the hall was gutted by fire. The GPO building was then restored as a retail centre in 2004. Then the building became an upmarket shopping mall and it opened for business as a new upmarket retail centre in 2005.

Melbourne’s GPO is a premier shopping destination within the CBD. The building’s blend of heritage and contemporary architecture creates a unique retail experience, housing a diverse mix of retailers, including some of the biggest names in Australian accessories and fashion.

Here sharing some photos, which I’ve taken in the GPO building today.

Swimsuit

I love this swimsuit design. J.Crew is having red hot sale up to 70% off of their swimsuit. I personally like the tea-rose colour.

Common Misconception

There is a common misconception in the Christian world that if you are doing the Lord's will, you will not suffer hardships for it. The example of the Jews rebuilding the temple certainly does not support that supposition. The Lord clearly intends for them to rebuild the temple, yet they suffer opposition the entire time. It is not necessarily a sign of God's displeasure when work begun for Him fails. There may be other reasons for the failure, which are hidden in His sovereignty. That is why it is so important to be in fellowship with Him. If something we are doing fails, we have confidence that it is not because of our sin, but His sovereignty.

Discontent When Compare

The basis of most discontent is comparison. We could be happy with our cars if the neighbors didn't have better ones. We would be satisfied with our houses if they were as nice as everyone else's.

Yet, were we to have our present possessions in Africa, we would be considered rich. Once our basic needs are met, the issue is not "how are we," but rather, "how are we compared to how everyone else is."

When the foundation of the new temple is laid, the new generation rejoices at the work of God; but the older generation laments that the new temple is not as impressive as the old one.

We should be content with what God has chosen to give us and not make comparisons. He is rich who rejoices in his portion.

My mouth shall tell of Your righteousness
And Your salvation all the day,
For I do not know their limits.
I will go in the strength of the Lord God;
I will make mention of Your righteousness,
of Yours only.
O God, You have taught me from my youth;
And to this day I declare Your wondrous works.
(Psalm 71:15-17)

Drive Safely

Just saw a news on The Age about a young driver at the age of 27, drove a friends car and crashed while over steering at 95 km/h, in a 70 km/h zone. He was over the blood alcohol limit and was speeding.

Friends out there, speaking from my experience, speed is definitely fun. However, please think for your passenger's safety when you're driving. This 27-year old guy is remorseful of his action. He will live the rest of his life with the knowledge that he has killed one person, (took) one life and damaged another.

Friends, please think before you act. It's sad to see people's life taken away just because of one person's recklessness. Safe driving is far more than taking a course in driver's education, it's also a matter of using your head and common sense. If you want to drive fast or race, please go to a race track instead.

Life At Home

Ever since the outbreak of influenza A (H1N1), I’ve been going out less except for church on Sundays and to do groceries. I’m not sure how long will I be able to stay at home any longer. I wish to travel and explore different areas. However, the A (H1N1) case seemed serious in Victoria at the moment. In spite of that, people are still going on with their normal routine, or maybe they’re going out less now, I might not know. I sure hope this will be over soon as I desire to go somewhere around Victoria for a day trip and to do some photography with JY. I miss those moments.
